Britains most famous admiral, Nelson was the hero of the countrys greatest naval victory against the French in 1805 at the Battle of Trafalgar. Tragically, he was killed in the battle aboard his ship, the Victory. His distraught sailors, wanting to preserve his body for a state funeral at St. Pauls in London, pickled his body in a barrel full of rum for the voyage from Gibraltar.
