The M4 “Sherman” series of medium-sized tanks was initially inherited from the M3 medium-sized tanks. It used the “Continental” R975 air-cooled star aviation gasoline engine. The welded body was directly called the M4 model in the entire series. The M4 was put into production after the M4A1 and M4A2. The entire series has been changing in many places during the production process for several years, but the M4’s welded hull with front armor with a 56-degree inclination and the use of a 75mm gun have not changed. Until the final production of the M4 with a cast front part and a welded structure! During World War II, the British used to name American tanks obtained under the Lend-Lease Act after generals from the Civil War. The tanks in the M4 series were named “General Sherman”. Then the US military only had the M4 during the war and did not have the habit of using the “Sherman”!
