The EA-18G Growler, an electronic warfare aircraft developed from the fighter F/A-18 Super Hornet and has taken over its capabilities as the successor to the E/A-6B Prowler, has been operated by the U.S. Navy since 2009. The EA-18G Growler is equipped with advanced electronic warfare, such as AN/ALQ-99 tactical jamming system and an ALQ-227 communication jamming system. In addition to a dedicated system officer boarding with the pilot, the EA-18G Growler demonstrates high electronic warfare capability. VAQ-129, which mainly trains electronic warfare aircrew, operates EA-18G Growlers as well. In 2011, a special livery commemorating the 100th anniversary of U.S. Naval Aviation was made and attracted much attention.
This plastic model kit reproduces the EA-18G Growler, an electronic warfare aircraft of the U.S. Navy that has been in service since 2009.
